What is a custom field?
Custom fields are fields that store information on Cotiss records. For example, you can use the Department custom field to specify what department is responsible for an event. Custom fields are used to store unique data for your business.
Create a custom field
Creating a new custom fields requires several details:
- Name: Label used to identify the field
- Description: Enter text to describe the field. This is not required to create a new field.
- Field Type: There are options for adding a field type: [Short text, Long text, Hyperlink, Dropdown select, Dropdown multi-select, Number, Date, Date & Time]
If you select Dropdown select or Dropdown multi-select, you must then select the list of dropdown options that you wish to provide. There is no limit on the number of dropdown options you can add.
Edit a custom fields
Due to the potential impact on stored information, there are limited means for editing an existing custom field. The only information that is editable will be the Name, Description, Dropdown Label Name. A custom field can alternately be Archived.
Where can I use custom fields?
Custom fields exist across three core records:
- Contacts: Store information against vendor profiles
- Procurements: Plan and segment your procurement plans
- Contracts: Define contract fields that should be extracted from contract documents
Is there a limit on custom fields?
Custom fields are currently limited to 20 active per object, per organisation. Legacy custom fields can be archived, however, they will be hidden from view when viewing objects.
